Early life and family

Nydia Margarita Bertran was born 8 May 1946, in Cuba; her zodiac sign is Taurus. Nydia comes from the family of a Cuban diplomat, while her mother was an elementary school teacher. When Fidel Castro became the political leader of Cuba, Nydia’s family moved to the US; as they experienced hard times, Nydia had to start working early, and sometimes even skipped her school classes to have a chance to earn another dollar.

She has always been a hard-working person, as she truly understood what she worked for. When she grew older, she started working as a model, but even before she started working full-time, she met a man she then married, but the couple divorced in less than a year, and Nydia could start her career, not looking back at her husband, though having her daughter, Adria, in her arms, who she gave birth to during this short marriage.

Career

First steps

Nydia’s first job in her professional modelling career was a local advertising campaign, mostly busy in various commercial printed marketing campaigns. However, she soon became very interested in the other side of the process, as she was curious about what it was like to work as a photographer.

She started borrowing her colleagues’ cameras to try them and to at least understand how they work. In the end, she gathered all her savings and bought a camera for herself, and started practicing.

All she could do at the start of her photography career was small photo shoots for her friends and their events, developing her portfolio. However, she didn’t give up and kept on seeking more opportunities, often working for free just to get more experience. She met more and more politicians, and merged into their circles of communication. Her career took a major twist when she was allowed to participate in several political campaigns, which led her to the campaign of President Ronald Reagan during his 1980 election.

Further success

Nydia gained fame after her successful work during the Presidential Campaign of 1980, so she met even more politicians who wanted to work with her now. They were eager to get in touch with that talented woman, and Nydia was more than happy to find her place under the sun in the society of rich and/or  influential people.

It was in 1990 when she started dating her future husband, Roger Stone, who was a political consultant, working with Donald Trump, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. Many years later, in 2017, Nydia made a cameo appearance in the Netflix documentary about her husband entitled “Get Me Roger Stone”.

Nydia is now defending her husband from all the attacks he gets from the press, as in 2019 he was arrested because of his connection with Special Counsel Investigation on Robert Mueller’s case, but in particular lying to congress.

Personal life, husband Roger Stone

Nydia met Stone when she started working for the campaign of Ronald Reagan. The two met many times, but Roger was married at that moment, and was also too busy with his own work. However, Roger divorced from his wife Anne Elizabeth Wesche, who he married in 1974, bringing their 16-years-long relationship to an end, and soon started dating Nydia. The couple married in 1992 – she later shared a lot of photos from their wedding ceremony as she had a chance to dance with Donald Trump, who was also among the guests.

Roger became Adria’s stepfather, and Nydia’s daughter took on his surname. Roger and Nydia now have a granddaughter, named Katelyn Yeatts, and a great-granddaughter.

Who is Roger Stone?

Roger Jason Stone Jr. is a well-known American political consultant who has worked with major figures in American politics. He was born on 27 August 1952, in Norwalk, Connecticut USA. From a young age he was interested in politics and always wanted to work in this sphere. He once played his first political trick when he was still in his elementary school in 1960, when John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign was going on: ‘I remember going through the cafeteria line and telling every kid that Nixon was in favor of school on Saturdays … It was my first political trick’, he shared in one of his interviews to Washington Post in 2007.

Roger’s career developed quite well; as soon as he quit George Washington University, he started working for the Committee to Re-elect the President, invited by Jeb Magruder, who also worked for Richard Nixon. He later worked with Donald Trump, Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole, and many others. In 2019 Roger was charged with interference and using various conspiratorial schemes during the elections of 2016. His wife and other members of his family joined Roger’s attorneys to defend Stone from the sentence. Nevertheless, Roger Stone was sent to federal prison for 40 months starting from February 2020.

Controversy over Nydia and Roger’s ad in the “Local Swing Fever” magazine

In 1996 Nydia and Roger got into a very uncomfortable situation when the press discovered their ad in the “Local Swing Fever” magazine.

Nydia and Roger Stone

The ad consisted of Nydia’s nude photo (who was 48 years old at that moment) and Roger’s bare-chested shot (he was around 44 back in the day), and the description said they were looking for a partner or a couple to join them in their bed: ‘Prefer athletes, bodybuilders, jocks and military. Couples ok, photo and phone’, said the ad, inviting new partners to Nydia and Roger’s house in Miami Beach, Florida. When the controversy exploded in the media, Roger denied they ever posted any ad at all. He insisted they had a domestic employee who had access to their personal photo archives and their computer at home; they accused him of taking their pictures – the one of Nydia was from her professional photoshoot of 1986, when she was still working as a model, and the one of Roger was taken from his bodybuilding contest photo set of 1993 – and publishing an ad in the local newspaper in order to defame the couple.

In 2008 Roger gave an interview to Jeffrey Toobin from the New Yorker, in which he stated that in fact they did post the ad themselves. Even though the lies were taken into consideration in 1996, Roger lost his job of Bob Dole’s consultant, but he had no regrets on that: ‘When that whole thing hit the fan in 1996, the reason I gave a blanket denial was that my grandparents were still alive’.

Hobbies, favorite things and interesting facts

Nydia and Roger have several Yorkshire Terriers living with them. Nydia likes swimming in open waters and in the swimming pool in their backyard as well. Her favorite drink is black coffee. She likes treating herself with a small cupcake from time to time. She also likes spending time with her family. Both Nydia and her husband Roger prefer natural remedies and various homeopathic solutions when treating any kinds of illnesses.

Appearance, clothing style

Nydia has middle-length black hair and dark brown eyes. She is 5ft 8ins (1.73m) tall and weighs around 141lbs (64kgs); her vital statistics are 40-24-36. As to her clothing style, she likes wearing casual light shirts and short cotton dresses, as she still lives in Florida, enjoying the hot weather.

Net worth and salary

As of 2020, Nydia and her husband Roger Stone undergo hard times. Roger had a fortune of $5 million, but lost almost all his money after paying legal fees. His net worth is now said to be close to reputedly around $50,000, while Nydia’s is $500,000.
