Early Life and Career Beginnings

Natalia is of Spanish descent, specifically of Basque and Extremaduran. She grew up in London where her father worked as a carpenter, while her mother had a job as a secretary. She learned how to speak Spanish fluently at home, and became comfortable at speaking two languages. She attended the independent boarding school Bedales located in Hampshire.

At a young age, she developed a love for music, mostly nurtured by her mother who taught her how to play the piano.

During her teenage to young adult years, she developed a love for acting on stage, while she spent her free time busking at the London Underground. She also learned how to play the accordion while she was a part of a theatre group Knee High, which is a theatre company that tours around the world. In 2002, she ventured on her first professional project, the film “About a Boy” which starred Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult, and is based on the Nick Hornby novel of the same name. After that, she decided to pursue a full-time career as an actress.

Rise to Fame – Harry Potter

While looking for opportunities in film and television, Tena put her attention to stage projects, appearing in an adaptation of “Gone to Earth” which is based on the 1950 film of the same name. She also worked on a stage adaptation of “Nights at the Circus” which was based on the award-winning novel of the same name written by Angela Carter.

The following year, she began her role in the fifth film of the “Harry Potter” film series, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, and reprised her role in subsequent films, leading to the finale “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” in 2011.

She played the character Tonks, an Auror who can change her hair color at will. In the show, she played the role of a wildling woman from beyond the Wall who becomes a maid for the Stark family, leading her to eventually become a caretaker for the younger Stark children, Bran and Rickon.

Recent Projects

After appearing in the music video for “Without You” by Lapalux, Tena gained another notable role in an episode of “Black Mirror”, in which she played a mentally ill woman. The film is an anthology series akin to the older series of its kind such as “The Twilight Zone”. It depicts different stories set in a dystopian future with new invasive technology, that threatens various human rights concepts. She appeared in the episode “White Christmas” which featured John Hamm and Rafe Spall.

Following, she was cast as the lead character in the miniseries “Residue” which aired on Netflix.

The horror series follows the life of a photojournalist who discovers eerie supernatural connections to the bombing of a nightclub in future England. Afterwards, she worked on the CBS series “Wisdom of the Crowd” which ran for a year. One of her latest projects is the series “Origin” in which she portrayed the character, Lana Pierce. The show follows the story of strangers trapped in a spaceship who must work together to try and survive. She also made a guest appearance in an episode of “The Mandalorian”, playing the role of the criminal Xi’an.

Personal Life

Natalie is in a relationship though she’s not the type to reveal a lot about any past or present romantic endeavors to the public. She often spends her free time with friends, though recently to a lesser degree due to many becoming isolated to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, she’s mostly at home, taking care of several pet dogs and a pet cat. She normally enjoys various charities and human rights organizations, and has worked closely with Survival International. She also promotes work with the Orchid Project, which aims to prevent genital mutilation of females, in areas such as Russia and Africa.
