Career as a singer

After matriculation in 1975, Patty started to work as a waitress, while performing in bars and clubs, working on her singing career. She joined the band Scandal in 1981 as their lead vocalist, and their eponymous debut extended play (EP) was released in 1982.

The band was signed to Columbia Records, and the album’s single “Goodbye to You” became a huge hit and the best-selling album Columbia Records had released up to that moment. Her debut solo album – “Never Enough” – was released in 1987, while her second self-titled album came out in 1992, producing the hit song “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough”, which was a duet with Don Henley, the guitarist and vocalist of the band The Eagles, and which reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

She worked together with two other people on the soundtrack “Look What Love Has Done” for the buddy comedy movie “Junior”, which was nominated for both a Grammy and Academy Award. In 1988, she was invited to write music for the critically acclaimed science fiction disaster movie “Armageddon”, coming up with “Wish I Were You”, then approached by VH1 in 2004 to appear in the program “Bands Reunited”, together with other Scandal members, and they decided to do a tour as Scandal on the USA East Coast.

Their compilation album “We Are the ‘80s” was released in 2006, without new songs but featuring three unreleased songs from 1982. On 17 January 2009, they released their first new song after 24 years, called “Hard for You to Love Me”, also known as “Make It Hard”.
