Power Couples Taking Over the Horseracing World

Every sport has its power couples. In tennis there is Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. In football there is Alphonso Davies and Jordyn Huitema. And in the UFC there is Amanda Nunes and Nina Ansaroff, who have a unique way of keeping the peace in their relationship.

However, there is now another sport that is stealing the limelight from all these heavy hitters, as women flock to compete in it for the first time after decades of being held back.

That sport is horse racing, and it is leading to a whole new bunch of celebrity sports relationships, some of which are blossoming to such a degree that the couples in question are being talked about as veritable power couples.

Here are some of the most influential equestrian love duos that exist today.

Power Couples Taking Over the Horseracing World

As more and more women jockeys flock into the sport, expect more equestrian power couples to come to light in the near future

Hayley Turner and Nick Scholfield

Hayley Turner is arguably the most revered female jockey on the planet, having built a career on running vast amounts of races in one calendar year.

After a brief spell of retirement, she has returned to the sporting spotlight in more ways than one, winning grade 1 races as well as sending sparks flying with her fiery love interests and relationships.

The 38-year-old jockey has now hooked up with fellow jockey Nick Scholfield and is nursing him back to health after the unfortunate equestrian was hit by a stray horse at Fontwell Racecourse.

Thankfully both these star-crossed lovers are now back fighting fit and will no doubt feature in the online tips that racing experts provide as the big spring and summer race meets roll around.

With being a jockey resembling more of a lifestyle than a standard job, it is no surprise that more and more relationships are being struck up at stables and training centres

Tom Marquand and Hollie Doyle

When it comes to current success out on the flats then top 5 ranked jockeys Hollie Doyle and Tom Marquand are lengths ahead of the rest of the field.

They solidified their status as one of the sport’s major power couples when they got engaged right at the end of 2020.

For the moment, their rivalry out on the track seems to be doing wonders for their relationship. If their 2021 season is as fruitful as their last, then this is one power couple who could be about to launch their fame into the sporting stratosphere.

Megan Nicholls and Kevin Stott

Paul Nicholls has always been known as an infinitely better racehorse trainer than he ever was a jockey, but his daughter Megan is doing things the other way around, blazing a trail as one of the very best riders on the circuit.

Equestrianism runs through Nicholls Junior’s blood to such an extent that she has even struck up a relationship with fellow jockey Kevin Stott.

The two met on a trip to Dubai in 2020 and have never looked back, although both have been coy about their relationship when put in front of cameras or asked to pass comment.

Much like Marquand and Doyle, Nicholls and Stott have been pitted against each other on multiple occasions and it remains to be seen if such rivalry with be healthy or destructive in the long term.

Rosie Napravnikand Joe Sharp

Relationships between jockeys and trainers are nothing new, as work relationships often blossom into something more.

That was the case with superb US jockey Rosie Napravnik and trainer Joe Sharp. Napravnik has since retired from racing but Sharp continues to rise through the ranks as one of the most revered trainers from across the pond.
