Early life, family and education
Rebecca was raised an only child initially in Hays by her parents, who were both into the real estate business – while growing up, the family moved multiple times.
Rebecca attended Ralston Senior High School at which she was physically very active as she played various sports, and she was also one of the best students there with her 4.0 Grand Point Average (GPA). While still attending high school, she became Miss Nebraska, and later entered the Miss USA beauty pageant, becoming one of five finalists. Upon matriculation in 1979, she enrolled at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with, once again, a 4.0 GPA in 1983.
After graduation, Rebecca began working as a professional model and moved to live in Paris, France, which has to this day remained her favourite travel destination – she has travelled all around the world for her photoshoots, visiting countries such as Japan, Germany and Italy. After three years of travelling, she moved to New York and signed with the Ford Modelling Agency.
Roles in TV series
Rebecca has appeared in almost 100 movies and TV series, and we are about to mention some of her most notable performances in this article.
She made her debut TV series appearance in 1985, when she portrayed Jessie Matthews in two episodes of the longest-running soap opera – “The Guiding Light” – which aired from 1952 to 2009 and starred Kim Zimmer, Beth Chamberlin and Maureen Garrett – it follows the lives of the family Bauer living in the made-up city Springfield, and won 106 awards and was nominated for over 450 others.
The following years saw Rebecca appear in single episodes of several series, such as the crime drama “Columbo” in 1990, the primetime gothic soap opera “Dark Shadows” and the teen drama “Beverly Hills, 90210”. Solely in 1992, Rebecca guest starred in single episodes of five series, some of which were the crime drama “Likely Suspects”, another drama “The Wonder Years” and the sitcom “Bob”.
She went on to guest star in the episode “Rest in Peace” of the critically acclaimed sitcom “Love & War”, and appeared in several other series before being cast as one of the lead characters, Sherry Beck in the drama “Live Shot” in 1995 – the series also starred Sam Anderson and David Birney and follows the lives of a TV news team based in Los Angeles.
