They opened the Creative Artists Agency in a rented office with card tables, folding chairs, and their wives as the secretaries. The company later grew to expand its range of services to include consulting with corporations. After spending over 20 years on CAA, he began serving as the President & Chief Operating Officer of Universal Studios from August 1995. He remained in the post for over 18 years till September 2013 when he was promoted to Vice Chairman of Universal Studio’s parent company, NBCUniversal. Under his chairmanship, Meyer navigated Universal through a number of Studio expansions and corporate acquisitions including Vivendi and General Electric. He was also an integral part of establishing cost-effective ways in evolving Hollywood economics.

He played a winning hand for five decades and ran Universal Pictures through three owners that he deployed his deep relationships in Hollywood as the ultimate fixer/negotiator/manager. However, his career came to an end after he was forced to resign his position chairmanship at Universal Studios following a sex scandal on August 18, 2020. 

As a longtime executive, he admitted that he paid off a mistress in order to prevent his company from facing embarrassment after he admitted to an affair with Charlotte Kirk, who he claimed was trying to extort the company.

Affair with Charlotte Kirk and Consequence

Ron Meyer revealed about having an affair with Charlotte Kirk, a British-born Australian actress, and writer, who tied to the resignation of NBCUniversal vice-chairman Ronald Meyer in August 2020 and previously the resignation of Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara in March 2019.

Meyer dated Kirk, 28, back nearly a decade, and made a settlement under threats by an associate of hers who had made false accusations against him earlier. However, in August 2020, he disclosed to his family and the company about having an affair and making settlement back then. 

Following his revelations, he stepped down from his role as Vice Chairman after he was forced to resign on August 18, 2020.
