She grew up a highly sociable person having many friends both male and female with whom she played games, watched movies, and even played soccer. She studied at a local high school in Richmond, apparently one of the best students there. She was a member of the school’s drama club and reader’s club, and was playing several sports such as soccer and volleyball. After matriculation, she enrolled at a college graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1970.

Career as an actress and a talk show host

Sarah worked several jobs after graduation to financially support herself, before launching her acting career in 1975, appearing in the action adventure TV series entitled “Wonder Woman” which stars Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner, and follows ‘the adventures of the greatest of the female superheroes’. The year 1976 saw her in the action adventure film “Charlie’s Angels” starring Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, which follows a mysterious man called Charlie who is running a detective agency and working with three beautiful women.

From 1975 to 1978, Sarah hosted the morning show “A.M. Los Angeles” together with Regis Philbin, and meantime became a game show host of “The Better Sex” in 1977, in which men and women competed in ‘a battle of sexes’. The show ran between 18 July 1977 and 13 January 1978 and had a male and a female host (Bill Anderson and Sarah).

In 1979, Sarah was invited to host the talk show “Real People”. which featured people with unique hobbies and jobs. Its producers were Bob Wynn and John Barbour and the show ended on 4 July 1984 after five seasons with Sarah hosting all five.

She went on to host the talk show “America” in 1984, alongside Stuart Damon, McLean Stevenson and Charlie O’Donnell, which discussed people, trends, and places, and occasionally had celebrities for guests. It ended on 3 January 1986. In 1992, Sarah started hosting the information-laden “The Home Show” alongside Robb Weller, until 8 April 1994 when the show ended. After that, she served as a panelist on the game show “To Tell the Truth”, in which one of three contestants is the real ‘central character’, while the two others were frauds, and the panelists had to guess the ‘central character’.

In 1997, she starred in the mystery thriller TV series “Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction”, which starred Jonathan Frakes and Don LaFontaine – each of its 282 one-hour long episodes showed five stories which have no logical explanation, and although some are actually true, the viewers had to decide which ones.

Love life and relationships

Sarah has been married two times. Her first husband was Joseph W. Purcell, who is a family medicine doctor living in Landing in New Jersey – they married on 2 May 1970 and divorced in 1979, rumor had it because Sarah is incapable of having children.

She met Dr. Sandy McClintock at an event in 1982, and after a year of dating, the two married on 6 October 1983. Sandy has a son named Darin from his first marriage, and it’s believed that Sandy and Sarah agreed not to have any children. They have been together for over 36 years now, and there have been no rumors nor controversies surrounding their marriage; although Sarah was rumored to have dated some of her co-hosts, none of these rumors have ever been confirmed.

Hobbies and other interests

Sarah enjoyed travelling, and has been to numerous European countries including Croatia, Greece, and Turkey while she has also been to Asia as well as many US states. She likes to watch movies and TV series in her spare time, with some of her favorite actors and actresses being Robert De Niro, Matt Damon and Meryl , while some of her favorite movies are “The Godfather” trilogy, “The Bourne Identity”, and “Kramer vs. Kramer”.

She was physically active while she was still acting and hosting, having two to three training sessions at the gym each week, and often playing tennis and golf with her friends and colleagues.

Sarah is a philanthropist, and has donated large amounts to several charity organizations including The Red Cross, and as she is a big lover of animals, to a couple of animal shelters as well, one of which is in Turkey.

Sarah is 71 years old. She has medium long blonde hair and brown eyes, is 5ft 9ins (1.75m) tall, and weighs around 148lbs (67kgs). As of early 2020, her net worth is estimated at over $1 million.
