Early life and education

Alec was raised an only child in the US by his Swedish father who was a factory worker, and his American mother who was teaching at a local elementary school. He grew up being interested in comedy, and often made jokes to make his family and his friends laugh.

Upon enrolling at high school, Alec joined the school’s drama club where he excelled at writing plays rather than starring in them, and was then encouraged by his teachers to pursue a career in comedy. He began doing stand-up comedy during his final year, then upon matriculation decided not to enroll at college but to rather focus on writing screenplays for comedy films and TV series.

Alec became famous worldwide after co-creating the comedy TV series “Seinfeld”, which starred Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis Dreyfus and Michael Richards and which follows stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who is trying to survive in New York City together with his friends.
