Anthony ‘Tony’ Revolori was born in Anaheim, California USA, on 28 April 1996 – his zodiac sign is Taurus and he holds American nationality. He is an actor, perhaps best known for his portrayal of the lead character Zero Moustafa in the comedy movie “The Grand Budapest Hotel” in 2014 which was directed by Wes Anderson and written by him and Stefan Zweig. It also starred Ralph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham and Mathieu Amalric, and follows a writer who is being told a story by the owner of an old luxurious hotel. The movie was a huge success, as it won 134 awards including four Oscars, and was nominated for 225 other awards, while Tony won a Detroit Film Critics Society for Best Ensemble (shared with his colleagues) and was nominated for 12 others, including a Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Most Promising Performer, and a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor.

Childhood and education

Tony was raised in Anaheim alongside his older brother Mario Revolori, who has also become an actor, by their father Mario Quinonez who was a film and stage actor, and mother Sonia who was a housewife. The boys became interested in acting after their father began taking them to the sets of his movies, and to the cinema for the premieres of his movies.

Tony attended a local high school, at which he was physically active as he played soccer and football, while he was also a member of the school’s drama club, and appeared in nearly all the plays performed there. He excelled in math, and practiced a number of other things including creative writing, playing the guitar and the piano. After he matriculated in 2014, he didn’t enroll at college, but rather pursued his career as an actor.

Roles in movies

Tony made his debut film appearance in 2004 at the age of eight, when he portrayed a Younger Boy in the short movie “Nebraska”, directed and written by Olga Zurawska and which starred Baadja-Lyne Odums and Tony’s brother Mario. His next role came four years later in another short movie – “Smother” – which was written and directed by Luis Gispert.

In 2009, Tony made his debut full-length film appearance, when he portrayed Fidel Ruiz in the comedy film “The Perfect Game”, which starred Clifton Collins Jr., Cheech Marin, and Moises Arias, and which follows the true story of a baseball team from Monterrey in Mexico, who were the first non-US team to win the Little League World Series.

In the same year, Tony appeared as Twin Shaun in the short film “Spout” directed and written by Alex Munoz, and four years later in the comedy movie “Fitz and Slade” which starred Dave Shalansky, Xander Bailey, and Vivan Dugre and is about two lead investigators who are fighting crime together. In 2014 shortly after he finished shooting for “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, Tony starred as Ramiro in the short comedy film “Special Delivery”, which was both directed and written by Trevor MacKinnon and is about a pizza delivery guy who calls the radio station to open up to people who might be listening to him.

“The Grand Budapest Hotel” made Tony famous worldwide, and he began to appear regularly in full-length movies rather than mostly in shorts. In 2015, he starred alongside Suraj Sharma and Smita Tambe in the Indian Hindi comedy movie “Umrika”, directed and written by Prashant Nair, which follows a man who moves to America from India; it won four awards and was nominated for two others. In the same year, Tony portrayed the lead character James ‘Jib’ Caldones in the coming of age comedy crime movie “Dope”, which was a big success winning six awards while it was nominated for 23 others.

The following year saw him play the supporting character Dumbo in the science fiction action movie “The 5th Wave”, which starred Chloe Grace Moretz, Ron Livingston and Nick Robinson, and is about four alien attacks on Earth, and a little girl trying to rescue her younger brother. He also played Chuy Herrera in the film “Lowriders” which received mixed reviews.The year 2017 saw Tony portray Chester Tamborghini, one of the lead characters in the black comedy movie “Take the 10”, which also starred Josh Peck and Emily Chang, and then appear as Renzo Eckberg in the critically acclaimed comedy movie “Table 19”, which starred Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow and Craig Robinson. Tony was praised for his portrayal of Flash Thompson in the superhero movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming” which starred Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr., and which won seven awards and was nominated for nine others. He also played Nemo in the comedy movie “Please Stand By” directed by Ben Lewin.

In 2018, Tony starred as Nathan in the road trip comedy movie “The Long Dumb Road”, which is about two men travelling together around the US Southwest – the film won a ReFrame Stamp Award for Best Feature. Three of Tony’s latest roles in movies have been in “The Sound of Silence”  and the superhero movie “Spider-Man: Far From Home” both in 2019, and in the comedy film “The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun”, set to be released in the second half of 2020.

Roles in TV series

Tony made his debut TV series appearance in 2006, as a boy in the episode “True Believers” of the action series “The Unit”, followed by guest roles in single episodes of the comedy series “Entourage” in 2007, and the comedy series “My Name is Earl” in 2009.

In 2010, he portrayed Paco in the episode “Family Album” of the comedy series “Sons of Tucson”, which starred Tyler Labine, Frank Dolce and Benjamin Stockham, and is about three brothers who hire a man to pretend to be their father after he (their father) is sent to jail; the series won Benjamin a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) – Leading Young Actor.

In 2013, Tony appeared as Sanchez in the episode “The American Dream” of the comedy series “Shameless”, before he was invited to play the supporting character Scott Schmidt in five episodes of the live action animated hybrid comedy series “Son of Zorn”, which starred Cheryl Hines and Johnny Pemberton, about the collision of an animated and real world.

Three of Tony’s latest roles in TV series have been in the episode “Party Gawds” of the comedy “Workaholics” and the action comedy animated series “OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes” in which he voiced Chameleon Jr. in two episodes, both in 2017, and the psychological horror series “Servant” in which he played Tobe in two episodes in 2019.

Love life and relationships

Tony hasn’t talked about his love life, nor the women he might have dated, but there is a rumor circulating the internet that the popular actor was in a relationship with Laura Harrier in 2016 and 2017; she’s a famous American actress perhaps best known for her portrayal of Liz in the film “Spider-Man: Homecoming”, and it was on the movie’s set that the two met.

They haven’t talked about the relationship, but were seen by many of their fans while spending time together, and it is widely believed that they dated for over a year and a half before splitting ways in late 2017. Laura went on to date Klay Thompson, a basketball player, but they broke-up in January 2020.

There is also a rumor that Tony is gay, but this hasn’t been confirmed. It appears that Tony is today single, he hasn’t married, and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

Tony is a highly sociable person and enjoys spending his free time surrounded by his best friends and family, while he also likes to meet new people.

He likes to travel, and has been all around the US to shoot for his movies and TV series, while he’s been to Europe on many occasions, visiting countries such as France and Germany among others. He is a lover of animals and has a pet dog, and is an advocate for the preservation of endangered species. Tony is physically active, as he has three to four training sessions at the gym each week, and in his spare time, he likes to play soccer and tennis with his friends.

Tony is also keen on watching movies, and his favorite actor and actress are Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, while some of his favorite movies are “Gladiator”, the franchise “Harry Potter”, and “The Life of Pi”.
