In 1993, Strahan was selected in the NFL Draft by the New York Giants, but missed most of his rookie season due to injuries. Over the next few years he didn’t fare well either, as he had difficulty adjusting with his recovery and the highly competitive nature of the NFL. Four years into his NFL career, he achieved his breakthrough season in which he recorded 14 sacks, leading him to his first Pro Bowl vote. This success proved useful in the successive seasons, as he helped his team reach Super Bowl XXXV in 2000.

Despite being considered a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl, they struggled against the Baltimore Ravens who held them off with a strong lead. After this successful run, he had contract disagreements with the Giants but ultimately re-signed with them, continuing his strong defensive streak with the team as he was named the 2001 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, setting the record of 22.5 sacks in a single season. He set a new franchise record for career sacks and completed his run with one final season in 2006 to break the record, eventually totaling 141 sacks. He then announced his retirement to the media.

In 2008 Strahan was hired by Fox to become a part of their pre-game show “Fox NFL Sunday”, joining other analysts. He became the host of “Fox NFL Thursday” later on, and while working with Fox, he has also appeared in other shows such as “Live! With Regis and Kelly”, and when Regis Philbin exited the show, he was selected to become the new co-host with Kelly Ripa. His work with the show helped its ratings significantly, and he stayed there for seven years until he was offered work on “Good Morning America”.

He became a part of a new spin-off, originally called “GMA Day” before it was changed to “Strahan, Sara, and Keke” to showcase the three main hosts, himself, Keke Palmer, and Sara Haines. He also hosted a revival of “The $100,000 Pyramid” which has been airing for five seasons. Apart from his regular work, he has also appeared as a guest for other television projects; he was a guest during the sixth season of the improvisation show “Wild ‘n Out”, and also made a cameo appearance in the 2019 film “Charlie’s Angels”.

Personal Life

After Wanda’s divorce from Michael, it is not known if she stayed in the US or returned to Germany with her children.
