Vasek participated in a lot of Tennis championship during his school time. His playing made him popular among various coaches and he was trained for about 6 years. When he turned 12, he participated and won the Prince Cup in Florida. Also, he played other under-14 matches which made him more experienced and talented. Coming to 2005, he along with his partner Graeme Kassautzki won the 2005 Canadian U18 doubles ITF doubles World Ranking event which was his first international win. Then, he also won his second doubles title with Milos Raonic, the 2006 Prince Cup in the United States. With other several wins, he became professional by the year 2007.

For the first time in his singles career, he had reached the quarterfinal of a grand slam but got defeated by Andy Murray. In the year 2016 and 2017 too, he won many small matches. By the time of 2018, he had won the seventh ATP Challenger singles title.

The 2019 year was quite tough for him as he had to go through surgery to repair a herniated disk. After his full recovery, he came back to make the history along with his partner Denis Shapovalov when they made their way to the final in the 2019 Davis Cup defeating Russia, Austria, the United States, and Italy consecutively.
