Ethan is currently living in Los Angeles, California, moving there to pursue his acting career.
Early life and education
He was raised as an only child in St. Charles by his father who was a lawyer, and his mother who was an accountant. Because Ethan spent little to no time with his mother, she started taking him to do photo ads together when he was only four years old, so that they could bond that way. After gaining recognition, Ethan started appearing in commercials, and was then invited to appear in movies.
Ethan attended a local high school in St. Charles at which he practiced acting, appeared in school plays and also played football, then after matriculating in 2017, he moved to Los Angeles.
Career as an actor
Ethan made his debut film appearance (uncredited) in 2007, when cast to portray Carl in the comedy family fantasy “Fred Claus”, which stared Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti and Elizabeth Banks, and is about Santa’s older brother, Fred who is being paid by Santa to come and help him at the North Pole – the film received mixed reviews.
In 2010, he portrayed The Neighborhood Boy in the biographical crime drama “Conviction” which starred Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell, and is about a woman who is trying to become a lawyer so that she could defend her brother who has been wrongfully sent to prison – the movie was a hit winning nine awards, while it was nominated for nine others. The year 2013 saw Ethan guest star as Henry Mesner in the episode “Born Psychopath” of the crime drama series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, and in 2017 he played the lead character Carl Gallagher in the short music video “Vic Mensa Feat. Pusha T: OMG”.
From 2011 to 2020, Ethan portrayed Carl Gallagher, one of the lead characters in the comedy drama series “Shameless”, created by Paul Abbott and John Wells and which also starred Emmy Rossum, William H. In 2014, he starred in two shorts, “Shameless: Season 4, Shameless Neighbors” and “Shameless: Season 4, Being Gallagher”, while the year 2015 saw him appear in the short documentary “Shameless: Season 5 – Shameless Love”.
Two of his latest appearances have been in the short documentary “Shameless: Season 7 – Growing Up Shameless” in 2017, and the episode “Television” of the news talk show “Celebrity Page” in 2018.

Love life and relationships
Ethan becomes somewhat secretive when asked about his love life, but it’s known that he has been in a relationship with the actress and model Brielle Barbusca since 2016 – Brielle is perhaps best known for her roles in the comedy crime series “Bones”, the romantic comedy series “Modern Family” and the comedy series “The Starter Wife”.
They met when she was invited to guest star in the episode “#AbortionRules” of the series “Shameless”, and Ethan asked her out on a date around a week later – they have been together to this day, and there are no rumors nor controversies surrounding the relationship.
