Childhood and education
Gigguk was raised an only child in Brighton by his Thai parents who moved there in search of a better life when his mother was pregnant with him – his parents worked multiple jobs to put food on the table, which later motivated Gigguk to work on his education.
He attended a local high school where he became interested in computers, programing and electronics, but wasn’t much of a fan of sports.
Gigguk matriculated in 2008, and then enrolled at the University of Bristol from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012. He spent the following two years focused on his YouTube channel, before joining the BBC network as their technical project manager, which led to him being away from YouTube for two years.
Gigguk actually launched his YouTube channel on 4 May 2006, and has since accumulated nearly three million subscribers, while all his videos combined have been watched over 380 million times.
Gigguk is mostly focused on reviewing animes, and uploading his parodies – two of his currently most popular videos are “Attack on Titan IN 9 MINUTES” which has been watched over 19 million times since 30 March 2017, and “Tokyo Ghoul IN 5 MINUTES” which has been viewed over 18.4 million times since 10 June 2016.
One of Gigguk’s most popular series of videos is his yearly and seasonal anime discussion “AZ: Anime” or “AZ: Summer Anime” while he is also popular for his “Top Lists” videos which he has created three of.
He also enjoys making anime music videos (AMV) and might be best known for his “AZ Rants” series, in which he takes on a random topic related to animes and then uses his humorous approach to analyze it – a few of his other popular series are “AZ Reactions”, “Anime in Minutes” and “How to Anime”.

In 2012, Gigguk together with three friends created the podcast PodTaku, and it counted 49 episodes before it ended in 2016 – he also hosted its side-podcast J-Taku, which counted 17 episodes. As of October 2020, he is hosting his new podcast – Trash Taste – which has so far aired 10 episodes.
Most recently, in October 2019 Gigguk moved to Tokyo in Japan with his fiancé Sydney Poniewaz.

Gigguk has been engaged to his other half Sydney Poniewaz for around a year now – an unconfirmed a rumor has it that they have just recently married in Tokyo in a private ceremony attended by their closest friends and family.
It’s believed by many that they met on the internet after Sydney messaged him as she is also a huge fan of anime. Gigguk hasn’t talked about any other girls he might have dated before meeting Sydney.
Sydney is best known for her “sydsnap’ YouTube channel, which she launched on 20 May 2007 and on which there are currently over 400,000 people subscribed to it, while it counts over 25 million views of all her videos combined. All her content is anime-related, and her most popular video “I Say ‘Ara Ara’ Non-Stop For 1 Straight Hour”, has been viewed nearly 850,000 times since 9 October 2019.
Hobbies and other interests
Gigguk spends most of his free time watching animes, as he needs content for his videos, and he also watches animated movies created by the famous Japanese Studio Ghibli – two of his favorite movies are “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” and “Ponyo”. Gigguk rarely watches live-action movies, and prefers to go to theatres to watch plays.
He doesn’t spend much time outdoors and when he does go outside, he usually sits at his favorite bar and drinks coffee or tea.
He is a lover of animals but doesn’t have a pet dog as he doesn’t have enough time to take proper care of it, and doesn’t want to have to take it out for walks.
