They met while Scott was performing with his indie rock band Ringside – the two were introduced by a mutual friend in 1992, and after three years of dating they married in a small ceremony attended by their closest friends and family on 1 April 1995. They decided not to have children right away as they wanted to focus on their careers, until in 1999 Michelle gave birth to their daughter Jill followed by their second daughter Jude in 2001, and third daughter Sadie in 2004.
