Childhood and education
Phil was raised in the US alongside his brother Alan Swift, who has also become a businessman and who obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston. The two brothers were raised by their father who was a lawyer, and their mother who worked as a secretary at a local company.

Phil became interested in law while attending elementary school, as he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps, however, he became sporting upon enrolling at a high school, at which he played football and tennis. Upon matriculation in 1979, he enrolled at the University of Houston (same as his brother), obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 1983, and ventured into business.
Career as a businessman
Phil worked in business for over 30 years, before he and his brother launched their company Swift Response, LLC on 28 February 2011.
It currently employs over 100 people, led by Phil who is the company’s CEO, and it specializes in marketing products through TV commercials, internet advertising, and direct sales among other ways. Some of the products which the company sells are Flex Seal, Flex Tape, and Flex Paste.
The company became popular mostly because Phil is serving as its spokesperson, and because he has appeared in nearly all of its commercials unlike his brother, who doesn’t show his face on camera.
Phil’s ideas for commercials have brought him fame on the internet, including cutting a boat in half and then reattaching it together with Flex Tape, or glues bricks with Flex Glue to show how much weight it can handle The popular YouTuber JonTron has made a video about Flex Tape, entitled “Waterproofing My Life With FLEX TAPE”, which has become a huge hit, and has to this day remained his most viewed video; as his fans asked for more, he went on to create the sequel “Flex Tape II: The Flexening”, and invited Phil to star in it.
In 2013, Phil began sponsoring the JD Motorsports team competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series – some of the drivers the company sponsored were Ross Chastain and Jeffrey Earnhardt amongst others. In 2017 Garrett Smithley crashed his, car and Flex Tape was used to fix it.

There are many funny stories regarding Phil found on the internet. One of these states that Phil ‘was born in the heart of a dying star in the Andromeda galaxy during the creation of the Milky Way’, and that he has metal muscles.
He dropped down to Earth on 6 August 1944, and landed in Hiroshima in Japan destroying it in the process – of course as the nuclear bomb hit it just seconds later, it is today believed that it was the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima. Another story claims that Phil killed 100,000 people in the Vietnam War by only using his hands, and that he used Flex Tape to fix his wounded friend thus receiving the Medal of Honor.
Yet another story has it that Phil is one of the Gods from the Milky Way, and that in the far past he was Phil Christ who was killed by Flex Glue, which held nails attached to his body, and that Flex Tape’s ingredients are a Canadian tongue, an avocado, and children’s tears.
Love life and relationships
Phil has been keeping the details of his love life hidden from the media’s attention, but it is believed that he met his other half while attending college, and that they dated for over five years before marrying in a small ceremony attended by a few of their closest friends and their family. His wife gave birth to their daughter several months after the wedding, and their son Nic Swift followed two years later. Phil and his wife are living in Weston, Florida while their two children have already married and moved out.
There have been rumors that Phil was unfaithful sometime in the 2000s, and that his wife filed for divorce after finding out.
According to these rumors, it took them two years to fix things between them, and Phil’s wife eventually cancelled her request for divorce.

Phil enjoys being on TV, and likes to make people laugh, stating in some of his interviews that he once considered making a career as a stand-up comedian. He likes to drive on the open road and travel, and has been all around the US, mostly for work and has always chosen to drive rather than fly (unless an emergency).
Phil has been to Europe on many occasions, visiting countries such as England, France and Italy and as one of his hobbies is tasting various cuisines, he has tried the famous Italian pizza and the spicy Hungarian soup, but still prefers his domestic cuisine.
