When it comes to reality shows, it will be unfair not to include “Love Island” as it is one of the most popular adult shows where each season new faces of handsome men and beautiful women can be seen seeking their love or for winning the show well some for both as well. This season of “Love Island 2021” whose cast was announced on 22nd June, well is quite interesting as every single Islander has something to gossip about. The one man who seems to have taken up on all headlines of the show is Hugo Hammond, the first disabled Islander ever on the show. 

With Hugo’s introduction on the show, many Islander fans were left in shock and amazement to see someone like him ever on the show. Noting that the show’s premiere is yet to be done, Hugo is already causing a stir since a funny video of him from university is circulating, in which he refers to himself as a “fucking top shagger.” He had been single for a long as dating wasn’t a simple choice during lockdowns, now it seems Hugo is entering the villa as an opportunity to meet people and get back into the dating scene.

Hugo, 24, who was born with a condition that turned his foot inwards(clubfoot), shared his inspirational journey of playing cricket for England PD(Physical Disability). Despite his disabilities, he excelled in school and went on to earn a teaching degree. Hugo says he wants to encourage the kids in his classrooms to participate in sports.

This says almost everything about Hugo who himself is a motivation for life now will be a reality TV personality with fame and money. Let’s look forward to his journey on the show.

Who is Hugo Hammond?

Hugo Hammond, the name that every Islander fans want to know, is a 24 years old British personality born in the city of Hampshire, England. Raised in his hometown, Hammond had his clubfoot disease since his birth which he has been together with now for whole two decades and more. Even so, his disability never became a problem for him to achieve his goal career to become a PE teacher and a cricketer. 

He is a graduate of Oxford Brookes University following which he began pursuing his career as a PE teacher. Growing up, he struggled a lot with his clubfoot problem for which he even had a lot of operations done at a young age. He has a short Achilles heel and walks slightly on tiptoes. 

Hammond said himself while asking about his conditions, “I had lots of operations when I was a kid. You can only really tell when I walk barefoot. I’ve got a really short Achilles heel and walk slightly on my tiptoes.” Besides, he is fond of all sports and always wanted to inspire and pass on the enthusiasm to young generations to be physically active. 

What does Hugo Hammond do for a living?

Hugo Hammond has been a PE teacher for many years, the job he enjoys the most. Through his teaching, he wants to inspire all the young generation people to get more into sports. 

Apart from his teaching career, he is also a cricketer and had played for the England PD(Physical Disability) team. With his team, he’s traveled all over the world representing his country. When asked what he does for a living he said; ‘I’ve been to Bangladesh, Dubai, I’ve been everywhere to play cricket,’ while also noting how much he loves his job as a PE teacher.

What is Clubfoot?

Clubfoot, the disease Hugo Hammond was born with, is a condition where a baby has his/her foot faces inwards or under. It is an unusual case that occurs in around 1 in 1,000 children born in England which is more common in boys than in girls. 

This condition can impact one or both feet, usually diagnosed in the womb during pregnancy, and physicians believe it’s genetic because it runs in families. There are multiple ways to resolved Clubfoot which include early treatment and physiotherapy and it usually isn’t painful. 

Hugo has the same condition of clubfoot for which he even went through several operations when he was a kid. His condition isn’t painful taking which he has been moving on in his life for a total of 24 years. He surely is an inspiration for all of the people suffering from clubfoot.

With just a teaser video of the announcement of the new cast of “Love Island 2021”, the craze over the newest and the very first disabled contestant, Hugo Hammond has increased so rapidly that within hours of the release of the teaser, Hugo’s Instagram began to get flooded with thousands of fans. 

He currently has a following of over 12.8k followers on his account: @hugo_hammond_ which was just 1.5k followers before.  His appearance on the show will not only let him have a new journey of love life but also a new identity of a reality show personality.
