Who is Jake Lacy?
American actor Jameson Griffin ‘Jake’ Lacy was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts USA, on 14 February 1986, making Aquarius his zodiac sign. He’s had roles in 35 TV series and movies, and is probably known best for playing Richard Semco in the 2015 romantic film “Carol”, which Todd Haynes directed, and which starred Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara and Sarah Paulson. Set in New York City in the 1950s, the film follows a young female photographer who’s fallen in love with an elderly woman, and it won 76 of its 337 award nominations, including six Oscar nominations for Best Achievement in Costume Design, Best Achievement in Cinematography and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Cate Blanchett), amongst others.
Jake’s still active in the movie industry, and is currently shooting for the upcoming mini-series “Apples Never Fall” and the movie “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial”.
Education and early life
Jake was raised in Pittsford, Vermont by his parents, about whom not many details have been disclosed because they prefer to stay away from media; Jake’s yet to mention whether or not he has siblings, and thus is believed to be an only child.
He was interested in playing sports while attending a local high school in Pittsford, and was on his school’s baseball team; Jake also appeared in a couple of school plays, but at that time had no plan to pursue a career in the film industry.
He matriculated in 2004, and then enrolled at the University of North Carolina’s School of the Arts, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2008; prior to making a name for himself in the film industry, Jake worked as a waiter, bartender and gym receptionist.
Roles in TV series
Jake’s debut TV series role was playing Chip in a 2008 episode of the soap opera “Guiding Light”, and in 2010 and 2011, he played Casey in 22 episodes of the comedy “Better with You”, created by Shana Goldberg-Meehan, and which starred JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Jennifer Finnigan and Josh Cooke. It follows two sisters who are in different stages of their relationships – the series was nominated for only a single award.
Jake attracted a lot of attention with his portrayal of Pete Miller in 21 episodes (2012-2013) of the critically acclaimed comedy “The Office”, which starred John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and Steve Carell, and was created by Ricky Gervais and Greg Daniels. It follows the lives of several work colleagues, the series aired from 2005 through 2013 and won 56 of its 251 award nominations. In 2013 and 2014, Jake appeared in an episode of the comedies “The Goodwin Games”, “The Michael J. Fox Show”, and “The McCarthys”.

In 2015 and 2016, he played Fran Parker in 12 episodes of the popular comedy “Girls”, which Lena Dunham created, and starred in alongside Allison Williams and Jemima Kirke. It follows the lives of several girls in their 20s, the series aired from 2012 through 2017, and won 21 of its 145 award nominations.
Jake’s three most recent TV series roles have been in two episodes of the 2020 biographical historical drama “Mrs America”, six episodes of the 2021 comedy “The White Lotus”, and all nine episodes of the 2022 biographical crime mini-series “A Friend of the Family”.
Roles in movies
Jake’s debut film role was playing Nathan in the 2010 short romantic comedy “C’est Moi”, and his following role came in 2014, when cast to play the main character Max in the hit romantic comedy “Obvious Child”, written and directed by Gillian Robespierre, and which also starred Gaby Hoffman and Jenny Slate. It follows a comedienne in her 20s who’s just learned that she’s pregnant – the film won 10 of its 39 award nominations.
A couple of Jake’s following roles were in the 2014 sports comedy “Balls Out”, the 2015 romantic fantasy comedy “Love the Coopers” and the 2016 romantic comedy “How to Be Single”. Also in 2016, he played Forde in the critically acclaimed drama “Miss Sloane”, which John Madden directed, and which starred Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong and Jessica Chastain,. Love life and relationships
Although quite secretive when it comes to speaking about his love life in public, it’s been revealed that Jake’s a married man. He and non-celebrity American Lauren Deleo exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Dorset, Vermont on 22 August 2015; the wedding was attended by only their closest friends and family members – it was only revealed a couple of months later that the two had married. Jake and Lauren have two sons together, but their birthdates and names haven’t been disclosed, because their parents want them to be able to lead normal lives.
Jake’s yet to mention the women whom he had been with prior to meeting Lauren, he’s married to Lauren Deleo as of April 2023, and they have two sons together.
Interesting facts and hobbies
Jake loves to eat Italian food, and his favorites are spaghetti and pizza.
He’s quite active on Instagram, and numbers over 80,000 followers on the social media network, although he’s posted only 31 pictures and videos onto it, with most of these showing him during his everyday life.
Jake works out at the gym every day, thus his muscular body; he’s revealed that he doesn’t follow a diet, and that working out as often as he does allows him to eat whatever he wants, whenever he wants.
He’s been to many US states and various countries around the world, both for work and pleasure; Jake mostly likes to travel to London, England.
His favorite actor is Christian Bale, while some of his favorite movies include “American Psycho”, “The Machinist” and “The Dark Knight”.
