Early life and education
Ben was raised in Queens by his father who was a factory worker, and his mother who was a nurse – an uncle was dealing drugs, and was sent to jail when Ben was 15.
Ben’s family was rather poor, and sometimes they couldn’t afford to both pay the rent and put food on the table.
This made Ben interested in making money, and he became a hustler, tricking people out of money at the age of 14. He had good grades while attending elementary school, but soon after he enrolled at high school, he decided to quit and started working in the streets of Queens. He was known as a teenage hustler, and was doing whatever jobs he could get his hands on, such as being a messenger for rich people, but being involved in suspicious businesses as well as working in the office.
Career as a real estate tycoon
Ben was always against drugs, and after his uncle ended up in jail, he promised to himself he would have nothing to do with that.
At the age of 18, he joined the US Army, and after four years when stationed in Oakland, California, he started doing other jobs such as removals, and helping people do work around their flats. When the owner of the building in which Ben lived noticed that, he put him in charge of that building, and not long afterwards, Ben was managing all of the man’s properties.
So Ben spent his free time learning about the real estate business, and after he was done with the Army, he started working at Wilton’s Marwil Investments, where he was in charge of managing, purchasing and selling properties.
After earning enough money, Ben began working for himself, looking to buy abandoned properties or those in a bad shape, and he would renovate them before selling them for a profit.
His first big investment was when he purchased a building for $9 million, later selling it for $12 million, and earned most of his wealth in 2012, when the market was perfect for the selling of his renewed properties – it’s believed that he made over $70 million that year. He used the money he made to invest in hotels, and has now sold nearly all of them, but has kept those which he believed would be good money makers. He is currently the owner of seven hotels such as the Sheraton Tampa Suites Airport, and is currently employing 500 people.
Ben is a fan of cars, and part of his job and a hobby, is being a restorer of fast and vintage cars, while he became popular worldwide, especially amongst the fans of the movies “Batman”, after he purchased the Batmobile used in the movie “Batman Returns”.
The KONCRETE YouTube channel has created and released a mini-series about Ben’s life called “Life For Sale”, which counts 29 episodes and features Ben while talking about how he made money, and giving advice to people on how to do it as well as how to trick people. Love life and wife
Ben’s wife Karla Nila came to the US from Mexico alone at the age of seven, to live with her grandparents. Her parents abandoned her not long after she was born, and she eventually ended up living with her grandparents and four other people in a flat with two bedrooms. When she was 14, Ben, who was 34 back then, bought their building and assigned Karla’s grandfather work as the building’s maintenance manager. Soon after that, as Ben became somewhat close to Karla’s family, he moved them to a safer location, and gave all of them jobs mostly related to taking care of the building in which he put them to live.
When Karla was 18, Ben asked her to marry him and they have been together for over 16 years now. Ben has two sons Ben Mallah Jr. and Vinson Mallah, with a woman whom he dated long before meeting Karla, while she gave birth to their son Aaron Mallah sometime in the late 2000s. Ben Mallah Jr. has followed in his father’s footsteps and is in the real estate business, Vinson is running some of his father’s hotels, while Aaron who is 13 is slowly learning about his father’s business.
Ben is a family man who has done a lot for his sons, and as Ben Mallah Jr. has stated, his father helped him become successful by lending him money to buy a house and a car, which he later repaid.
Hobbies and other interests
Ben has been interested in comedy since his teens, and most of his friends and colleagues believe him to be ‘the funniest guy in the room’. He likes to watch stand-up comedy shows, and also actors such as Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams, and their movies such as “Liar Liar”, “Meet Dave”, and “Dead Poets Society”. Ben is still as modest as he was while growing up, and he shows that to everybody, with many people stating that Ben hasn’t allowed money to change him.
One of Ben’s favorite things to do is to drive to a building he is planning to buy, while he mostly enjoys driving his car by the ocean around Florida. He doesn’t like driving fast (and dangerous) cars as much as he does fixing old and vintage cars, and later selling them for good money. Ben likes to listen to country and pop music.
