- Japhet Tanganga has represented England youth levels at under-16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 as well as he represented the England under-16 team against Scotland in the Victory Shield in 2014.
- He took part in the Toulon Tournament and was a second-half substitute in the final as England defeated Ivory Coast to retain their title in 2017 and also played at the 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship where he scored in their opening group game against Turkey.
- Subsequently, he received his first call up to the England U21 squad but withdrew on 5 October 2020 due to injury on 2nd October 2020.
- On 28th March 2021, Japhet made his U21 debut during the second game of England’s 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign, a 2-0 defeat to Portugal.
