Early Life and Career Beginnings

Sydney is of American descent though she was born in Okinawa, and while she doesn’t talk about her family online, it is generally believed that she grew up in a military family, similarly to many military kids being born in the area with a strong American military presence there. She grew up with two sisters, and the family eventually moved back to the US where they settled in San Diego, California.

From a young age she was interested in becoming a model, and began pursuing opportunities right after high school – it’s not known if she took up any college education.

One of her first jobs was as a promotional model, appearing in events promoting small companies in her area. She also did a bit of commercial work though was limited to promotional events for the most part. Wanting to expand her reach further, she started working at Hooters, which is a known hub for aspiring professional models. During her time there, she developed her skills, her looks, and learned more about the industry.

Working at Hooters

While Hooters is generally known as one entity, it is owned by two investment firms making up Hooters and Hooters of America.

Sydney Maler

The name is a play on the slang Hooters, which is often a reference to women’s breasts as popularized by comedian Steve Martin. The company used the logo of an owl which is an animal that also does a hooting call. Its establishments became popular, mainly due to young women who are often referred to as Hooters Girls, and who are often shown with clothing that accentuates their sex appeal.

Hooters is a food establishment that serves various snacks, appetizers, and other specialties with a mix of alcoholic beverages. It is often viewed more as a resto-bar, due to the alcohol and the general environment which can be compared to most sports bars.

It is an international establishment that has widened its reach over the years, including a continued expansion in Southeast Asia. as well as in the US. While Maler started as a Hooters girl, she was determined to learn more, and later began working in the office side of the company as a part of the marketing department.

Online Transition

With Hooters, Sydney learned the process of how promo girls were hired, which in turn taught her about the research that led to more attention towards their girls, information which she would use later on. She also helped plan company events, and worked with numerous marketing materials which would also be to her advantage later on, as she marketed herself online.

One of her first online projects was becoming a regular poster of the online community called The Chive, frequently collaborating with another aspiring model, Amanda Cerny. The website started out promoting various hoaxes which gained them notoriety, as many mainstream media companies believed them to be true. Some of their most popular hoaxes included Donald Trump tipping high in restaurants, fake text messages, and a woman quitting her job using a dry erase board at her office. Eventually, the company became more of a community for comedy, memes, photos, women, viral videos and more, styled as a portal for various interests for men.

The website also found popularity with women, especially aspiring models and those willing to showcase their assets, and started to gain popularity on the site. Sydney was one of those women whose status on the site elevated her, as she gained more and more followers online.

Instagram Fame

Maler eventually created an Instagram account which built her popularity even further. She often posted photos of herself wearing various types of clothing, and wasn’t afraid to showcase her body that she had worked on, so that she could look good in a bikini. Showing a little more skin and wearing other outfits that accentuated her looks helped her website grow exponentially.

It was also no surprise as she started to apply some of the marketing tips she learned while working for Hooters.

She eventually left her job to focus more on her online presence, and companies began taking notice, and sending her sponsorship offers, work with professional photographers, and collaborative photoshoots with other Instagram models. One of her most notable partners is the company Yandy, known for selling sexy apparel and lingerie. One of the factors for her success was the quality of her photos, which always showcased something different, and the consistency of her uploads.

Apart from her Instagram account, she also started a podcast alongside fellow social media personality and frequent collaborator Nikki Howard – called “Sorry Mom”, they upload new episodes every week. As the name of their podcast denotes, they often talk about topics that would prove to be embarrassing to their mothers if they knew.

Personal Life

It is known that Sydney is single, and while she has a lot of male friends including online collaborators, she has not been romantically involved with any of them. She prefers to keep this aspect of her life away from the public, not talking about it a lot, except for a few occasions on her podcast. She also doesn’t usually dress the way she looks on her Instagram account, preferring to wear more comfortable clothes on normal days.
