Raza studied in Film and also in Television Institute of India, Pune (1969-1971) and received a diploma in film acting. He has an outstanding voice. The most famous performances as a character actor have been the role of a hopeless poet in the 1973 hit film “Namak Haraam” together with Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna.
Raza has had main roles in some of the most successful films of Bollywood like Raj Kapoor’s Prem Rog, Henna (film) and Ram Teri Ganga Maili and other big hits like Khud-Daar, Ram Lakhan, Tridev, Pyar Ka Mandir, Aankhen, Mohra, and Gupt.
In 1993 he performed in Ek Hi Raasta alongside Ajay Devgan as an extremist who tries to rule India. Recently he played a backup character in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar.
Raza has also performed in several Telugu films including Megastar Chiranjeevi’s 2002 blockbuster hit India.
