Who is Adam Hicks?

American actor and rapper Adam Paul Nielson Hicks was born in Las Vegas, Nevada USA, on 28 November 1992, making his zodiac sign Sagittarius. He’s appeared in 24 movies and TV series, and is perhaps known best for playing Jason Zimmer in the 2015 thriller movie “The Boy Next Door”, which starred Kristin Chenoweth, Ryan Guzman and Jennifer Lopez, and was directed by Rob Cohen. It follows a woman who’s recently separated from her cheating husband, and has now fallen for a young man who’s moved next door; the movie won one of its seven award nominations.

Education and early life

Adam was raised alongside his brother Tristan in Las Vegas, by their father Ronald Hicks and mother Lucy; Adam respects his family’s privacy, and so hasn’t revealed any details about them.

He was only eight when he launched his acting career, playing 5 Years Old Dave in 18 episodes (2000-2002) of the popular comedy series “Titus”, which starred Cynthia Watros and Christopher Titus, and was created by Jack Kenny and Brian Hargrove. It follows the life of mechanic Christopher, and the series won one of the 10 awards for which it was nominated.

Adam studied at a local high school in Los Angeles, California, as he’d previously moved there in pursuit of acting roles; he matriculated in 2011, and then didn’t enroll at college.

Roles in TV series

Adam played Boy in Classroom in the 2002 episode “The Thirty-Year Itch” of the fantasy comedy “That Was Then”, but his following role didn’t come until 2010, when cast to play Dennis ‘DZ’ Zimmerman in four episodes of the popular musical family comedy “Jonas”, which Roger S. H. Schulman and Michael Curtis created, and which starred Nicole Gale Anderson, Chelsea Kane and Kevin Jonas. It follows the lives of the Jonas Brothers, and the series won four of its 13 award nominations.

From 2009 through 2012, Adam starred as Luther in the action adventure comedy “Zeke and Luther”, which Tom Burkhard and Matt Dearborn created, and which also starred Hutch Dano; the series follows the lives of two best friends who are dreaming of becoming professional skateboarders, and it won one of its nine award nominations. Adam could then have been seen playing King Boz in 22 episodes of the 2013 family fantasy comedy “Pair of Kings”, Tyler Banks in the 2013 episode “Helpless” of the mystery “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and Truett Fincham in two episodes of the 2015 historical western mini-series “Texas Rising”.

In 2016 and 2017, he starred as Diesel in all the 20 episodes of the action horror “Freakish”, which also starred Liza Koshy and Leo Howard, and follows a group of teenagers as they’re fighting against predatory mutants who’ve taken over their hometown; this remains Adam’s most recent TV series role.

Roles in movies

Adam’s debut film role was playing Robbie Funkhouser in the 2002 comedy “The Funkhousers”, and the year 2005 saw him play Brady Davis in the family comedy “Down and Derby”, written and directed by Eric Hendershot, and which starred Greg Germann, Lauren Holly and Pat Morita; it follows a competition for dads organized in a small town.

Some of Adam’s following roles were in the 2005 family drama “The 12 Dogs of Christmas”, the 2006 family fantasy comedy “The Shaggy Dog”, and in the same year the family comedy “How to Eat Fried Worms”.

He portrayed one of the main characters Wen in the popular 2011 family comedy “Lemonade Mouth”, which also stared Bridgit Mendler and Hayley Kiyoko, and was directed by Patricia Riggen. It follows five teenagers who’ve met in detention and have formed a band; the movie was nominated for two awards.

Adam’s since had only a couple of film roles, with his three most recent having been in the 2016 family adventure “Little Savages”, the 2018 family comedy “Shifting Gears”, and the 2022 music video “Adam Hicks: Chosen One”.

Other credits

Adam performed the theme song in the TV series “Zeke and Luther”, and for “Mighty Med”.

He’s released a couple of songs and no albums; some of these songs include his debut single “Happy Universal Holidays”, “Dance for Life” and “Chosen One”.

Some of Adam’s most recent talk-show appearances have been in “Daybreak”, “So Random!” and “Red Carpet Report”.

Awards and nominations

Adam and his colleagues won a 2007 Young Artist Award for Best Young Ensemble in a Feature Film, for their performance in “How to Eat Fried Worms”.

Trouble with the law

Adam and his girlfriend Danni Tamburro were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery on 25 January 2018; Adam was absent for his arraignment on 23 March 2019 due to mental health issues, and the arraignment was thus put off.

The trial took place on 10 July 2019, and Adam pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree robbery, while he also pleaded no-contest to another count of robbery. He was found guilty of robbery in July 2021, and was sentenced to five years behind bars; Adam was released on parole in March 2022, having already been in jail for nearly 1,500 days while awaiting sentencing.

He spoke about his mental issues and incarceration in his song “Chosen One”, which was released on 28 October 2022; Adam also revealed in an interview that he was 12 when he began using drugs, and that he soon developed an addiction.

Love life and relationships

There are three girls whom Adam’s dated, that the public knows about. From 2008 through 2010, he was in a relationship with American actress Brianna Mccracken; she appeared in only three TV series but no movies, prior to disappearing from the entertainment industry in 2011. The two met on the set of the series “Zeke and Luther”, in which Brianna portrayed Charlene.

In 2015, Adam dated Chelsea Ricketts, an American actress who’s appeared in 40 TV series and movies, and is perhaps known best for playing Venus in the 2013 romantic movie “From Above”.

In 2017 and 2018, he dated Danni Tamburro, the above mentioned actress and producer who was arrested for armed robbery together with Adam; she was given three years on probation.

Adam seems to be unattached as of May 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Adam’s been passionate about music since a very early age, and can play both the drums and guitar.

He’s an avid dancer.

Adam’s a huge lover of animals, and has two dogs and five cats.

He’s followed by more than 10,000 people on Instagram, and has posted 47 pictures and videos onto the network; Adam’s revealed in his pictures that he’s gained quite a lot of weight since his incarceration.

He loves to spend his spare time at the beach.

Adam’s two favorite actors are Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler, and some of his favorite movies include “Copper Mountain”, “Rubberface” and “Earth Girls Are Easy”.
