Pregnancy Complications and “Homecoming”

In September 2018, Beyoncé revealed the cover story of the magazine ‘Vogue’ by writing an essay about her second pregnancy and complications she had, so she was forced to cancel her performance at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. During her pregnancy, she developed pre-eclampsia, which is a condition that leads to massive weight gain and high blood pressure. At the time of their twins’ birth, Beyoncé weighed around 218lbs (99kgs). After birth, the babies had to undergo phototherapy treatment to remove high levels of bilirubin in their blood, since they were at a high risk of developing jaundice. They recovered and everything was fine, and she proved it with her great return to perform at the Coachella in 2018. The documentary concert film “Homecoming” is based on her story; it premiered on Netflix in April 2019.
