Early life, education

Vanessa Adriana Nadal was born on 18 August 1982 in New York City, US. She has a brother and her family is from Latino ethnicity. Vanessa finished Hunter College High school in 2000. During her school days she was active in the tennis and swim girl’s teams, as well as writing in the school newspaper “What’s what”. Vanessa was also president of the “Hunter Latin Organization”. She continued her educations at the Massachusetts Technical University where she received a degree in chemical engineering in 2004.

While studying, Vanessa did couple of internships in Austrian Academy of Sciences as lab research, at the Massachusetts University and “Johnson&Johnson” company. In 2007, Vanessa decided to study law and three years later she received the highest law degree in the country, a Juris Doctorate at the Fordham University School of law. Vanessa also spent some time in Madrid at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas where she studied Spanish, EU and International law. Vanessa Nadal’s first job after graduation was a research in “Johnson&Johnson” where she worked for three years.

She left the company to study law school. After she finished it, got employed in Jones Day where she worked from 2011 to 2016, as a fulltime associate in different areas like contract law, environmental rights and intellectual property.

Personal life

Vanessa and her husband attended the same college, but they didn’t meet there. Miranda had a crush on her since college, but he made the first approach on Facebook and started a chat. He invited her to one of his performs “Freestyle Love Supreme”. She was impressed by his performance. They exchanged their phone numbers thanks to a mutual friend and began a relationship. After a couple of years dating they got married on 5 September 2010 at Belvedere Mansion in New York. The bride was wearing an Oscar de la Renta gown. The groom organized a special surprise for her.

A film adaptation of “In the Heights” will be released this year, with Miranda playing a role in it. He will compose 11 songs for the animated film “Vivo” that is expected to be released in 2021. He will be directing the musical “Tick Tick…Boom!” that is announced for 2021 on Netflix.

Miranda helped a lot after the Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit Puerto Rico. His song “Almost like praying” helped Hispanic Federation to raise $22 million for disaster relief. He played in “Hamilton” for the same purpose at Puerto Rico. His family donated $1 million for reconstruction of the University of Puerto Rico where the musical was planned to be performed. Miranda has received honorary degrees from few universities: Yeshiva University in 2009, Wesleyan University in 2015 and University in Pennsylvania in 2016.

He wrote two books. The first one in 2016 with Jeremy McCarter “Hamilton:The Revolution” and in 2018 with Johnny Sun “GMorning! GNight!:Little Pip Talks for Me&You.”
