Vishwesha Tirtha

Sri Vishwesha Tirtharu, was an Indian Hindu guru, saint, and the former presiding Swamiji of the Sri Pejavara Adokshaja Matha. Additionally, he was one of the Ashta Mathas belonging to the Dvaita school of philosophy. Sri Madhvacharya founded the Dvaita school of philosophy. Similarly, in the lineage of the Pejavara matha, starting from Sri Adhokshaja Tirtharu, who was one of Sri Madhvacharya’s direct disciples, Sri Vishvesha Tirtharu was 32nd.

Likewise, the late Guru also was Vishva Tulu Sammelana’s honorary president. As per his contributions to people, he built Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha in Bangalore. The  Vidyapeetha is already 63 years old now. Likewise, he also carried out 38 Nyayasudamangalas – graduations for students of Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha. Similarly, the government of India also awarded him the second-highest civilian award, ‘the Padma Vibhushan’ in the year 2020 for his work and contribution to society.

Vishwesha Tirtha: Early Life, Education, and Family

Tirtha was born to his parents as Venkataramana on 27 April 1931 in Ramakunja, India. During his childhood, he spent a lot of his time with his parents meditating.  Talking about his parents, there are no details about his father and his mother. Similarly, talking about his educational qualification, Tirtha did not attend ordinary education like everyone else.

Swamiji believed Paryaya first, turning to worship Lord Krishna at Udupi. He organized the All India Madhva Conference in Udupi during his first Paryaya, in 1954. He received the Badagumalige in Udupi during his second Paryaya in 1968. In 1984, during his third tenure as Paryaya Swamiji, he had a new hall named Krishna Dhama installed in Udupi. After Shri Vadiraja Swamiji of Sodhe Mutt, he finished five Paryayas and only one completed five Paryayas. On January 18, 2016, he began his fifth Paryaya and finished it on January 18, 2018.

It is said that the Akhila Bharat Madhwa Maha Mandala ABMM center, initiated by Swami, helped many poor students. In various holy places in India, he has founded math centers. To many pilgrims, these centers are of great support. In places like Bengaluru, Hubli, Dharwad, Bagalkot, to name a few, the Akhila Bharat Madhwa Maha Mandala has many hostels all over Karnataka. These hostels offer priority to very-poor students and give them almost free lodging and food. It charges a very nominal monthly fee for regular students to operate its various operations. These hostels have the same feeling as Mutts, as the students begin their daily activities in the morning with Vishnu Sahasranam and then wear traditional white dhoti at lunch and dinner. The food given is of the type of Satwik, so it does not consist of non-vegetarian foods, onions, and garlic.

Vishwesha Tirtha: Health Issues and Death

Initially, Swamiji faced serious breathing difficulties, Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji was admitted to Manipal, Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital on 20 December. Physicians confirmed dry cough blockage of the lungs and were aided by ventilators and other life support equipment. The doctors issued a bulletin on 27 December stating that the working of the seer’s brain was worsening.

On December 29, the same day, Swamiji died. Minister-in-Chief, B. S. Yediyurappa declared three days of mourning for the seer’s demise in the state. Later, the mortal remains of Swamiji were held for the devotees in Udupi and later moved by helicopter to the national college grounds in Bangalore. “Brundavana” Brundavana.
